High crosses in Kilfenora church yard

Kilfenora

Located at the entrance to the Burren, the church and church yard at Kilfenora are best known for the high crosses such as the Doorty Cross 12c. A.D., as well as for its architecture and stone carving. A centre of spiritual power, the site dates from 8-9 to 12c. Carved heads grace and protect the portals, parts of the Church and grave yard are still in current use.
