Evidence of the sacred, the tangible and the divine abound in today's Ireland. No other European nation has retained such a rich mythic heritage. The sense of Mythos in contemporary Ireland reminds us that this is a culture at home with revelations of truth, and sacredness. Ancient and modern artisans, artists and writers have shown us, in Samuel Beckett's words, that "form is content, content is form."

These pictures reveal and embrace their Celtic subjects with a sense that is as real as it is mysterious. In Knecht's photos, viewers sense a shadow-like penumbra of sacred inviolable space. As a photographer, Justin Knecht is as comfortable with light , lenses and cameras as he is in the sanctuary of his darkroom, where visitors will find the following sign: "No matter how slow the film, spirit always stands still for the photographer it has chosen - Minor White". The exquisite compositions exude a sensitive and special light. Sacred places, both pagan and Christian, from the Boyne Valley to the west of Ireland are represented , and we see that on more than one occasion, spirit did indeed acknowledge this photographer.
